Mt. Nokogiri and its saw-tooth ridge

Mt. Nokogiri

Mt. Nokogiri, the mountain that gave the town its name

Mt. Nokogiri (Nokogiriyama) rises on the border of Futtsu and Kyonan, at the western end of the Kiyosumi range. Its jagged, saw-tooth ridge has long been a landmark for ships entering Tokyo Bay. Commanding a view over the Minamiboso sea, it can be reached by ropeway or by car. The Great Buddha of Nihonji Temple, the largest seated stone Buddha in Japan, and the Jigoku Nozoki "Hell Peek" are well worth seeing.
